LAW ENFORCEMENT
RETIRED OFFICERS CERTIFICATION

In 2004, Congress passed the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act of 2004, which allows current and retired law enforcement officers the ability to carry handguns across the United States. In order to qualify for nationwide concealed carry, the retired officer must have in his possession a "retired" commission card from his agency, and also possess a certification of training stating he has met the qualification of his state police training commission. This 6-hour course will provide the opportunity for those retired officers residing in Washington State to pass the current Washington State Basic Law Enforcement Academy course of fire

Equipment required: High quality handgun of .380 caliber or larger, 300 rounds of full metal jacket ammunition, ear and eye protection and baseball cap.

Note about this course: This course will consist of 3 hours of practice and coaching, and then we will run the officer through two attempts to pass the qualifications course. NOTE: The Firearms Academy of Seattle, Inc. will not guarantee passage of the qualification course. It if has been several years since you trained with a handgun, it is recommended you take our Defensive Handgun course prior to attending this class.

About your instructor(s): Director Marty Hayes is a sworn police officer and W.S.C.J.T.C certified law enforcement firearms instructor and certified rifle instructor, and he and his staff have been teaching firearms and related survival training in the Puget Sound area for 19 years. Marty is a court recognized expert in law enforcement firearms training, and has designed the curriculum for all of our law enforcement courses with court defensibility as a foremost concern. All instruction done by certified law enforcement instructors.
