GREG BAILEY

Greg Bailey with AR-10 rifle.A systems and applications programmer who has managed and executed a wide variety of projects for numerous customers during a career spanning 40 years, Greg explains that in the 90's he concluded that his circumstances required development of skill at arms to replace the ineffective habits learned in Navy boot camp and reinforced by a lifetime of casual shooting.  In 1998, Greg came to The Firearms Academy of Seattle, Inc. for training and relates that he quickly found himself passing along to others the life-saving information he was learning.

In addition to studies at The Firearms Academy of Seattle, Greg sought the contrast of skills and knowledge from instructors including Massad Ayoob, Chuck Taylor, Ken Hackathorn, Dave Manning, Kent Gooch, Karl Wingren and Jim Jacobe, plus as many books and videos on weapons skills and armed defense concerns as he could get his hands on.

Greg's quest for knowledge and skill has accounted for well over a thousand hours on the range either as a student, or as a coach for students of handgun, rifle and shotgun classes teaching skill levels ranging from earliest beginner to our highest-level tactical training courses. In 2007, Greg advances from the position of assisting instructor to Lead Instructor in our rifle curriculum.  He holds instructor certifications from the National Rifle Association, the Lethal Force Institute, and the Firearms Academy of Seattle. In addition to his programming work, he serves as a DPSST certified private armed security officer in Oregon, and says that enjoying the fruits of his deep commitment to family and friends makes life worth living.
